General Rules

  • The authors of the presentations and posters must be formally registered and attend the SIODEC Congress.

  • If accepted, the summary of the presentation will be published in allprinted material for the Congress. The author accepts this condition with the submission of the abstract.

  • There should not be any information about the authors or participating institutions in the abstract. Proposals in which the author or institution is identified will not be accepted.

  • The presentations and posters must be original and have not been published or presented at another congress prior to SIODEC Granada 2022. The Scientific Committee may make exceptions for previously presented or published material, if the relevance justifies it. It is the responsibility of the main author to justify this aspect in the contents of the summary.

  • Presentations and Posters may be presented in Spanish or English.

  • The presentor may submit a maximum of two proposals, and may appear as co-author in as many as he or she wishes.

  • Each speaker can make a maximum of two presentations (Presentation or Poster) during the 7th Congress of SIODEC.

  • Presentations and Posters should not advertise or promote corporate products or interests.

  • The presentors of accepted proposals must make a declaration of any conflict of interest (financial relationship with the industry, academic institution, products or techniques described in the study, etc.).

  • For communication purposes the main author’s e-mail address will be used by the Congress organization to keep in contact.

  • In order to promote scientific and technical research in our profession, two prizes will be awarded: one for the best Poster and the otherfor the best Open Presentation.

  • Proposals may include:

    1. Research.

    2. Clinical Cases.

    3. Diagnostic Techniques.

    4. Innovative Vision Therapy Procedures.

    5. Bibliographic Topics of Interest.

  • The acceptance of a Presentation or Poster does not exempt the authors from the registration fees for the 7th SIODEC Congress. 

  • The main author of a Open Presentation or Poster will receive a discount on the total registration to the SIODEC Congress. The discount cannot be applied to the Pre-Congress course and cannot be in addition to other discounts.

  • The main author of an Open Presentation will receive a 20% discount on the Congress registration fee.

  • The main author of a Poster will receive a 10% discount on the Congress registration fee. 

Open Presentations

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • The lectures will be presented before the General session of the Congress and must be limited to a maximum of 20 minutes.

  • The first slide of the presentation must explicitly state if there is a conflict of interest or not. And if so, it must be explained in detail. Presentations that do not meet this condition will not be accepted.

  • The use of company logos in the presentation is strictly prohibited in order to avoid any commercial objective of the lectures.

  • In the event of sudden and unforeseen events, and with prior approval and authorization from the SIODEC Scientific Committee, the presentor may delegate to a substitute presentor.

  • The main presentor is responsible for all of the content in the lectureand/or poster, both by him and by the co-authors. Speakers in the Open presentations must adjust the content as specified by the Scientific Committee. If a different topic is presented than initially proposed, the Congress will have the full right to stop the presentation and apply appropriate sanctions for future Congresses.

  • A written document, in digital form with an editable format, must be submitted to facilitate its translation.

  • Important: abstracts must be sent through the form provided for this purpose on the web page. In order to maintain anonymity, abstracts received by other means of communication will not be accepted.

Research presentation:

  • Background and objectives.

  • Methods.

  • Results and statistics.

  • Discussion.

  • Conclusions.

  • Bibliography (not necessary in the initial abstract, but obligatoryin the presentation).

Clinical case presentation:

  • Patient symptoms.

  • Clinical data and diagnosis.

  • Treatment.

  • Statistics (when more than 5 cases).

Diagnostic or therapeutic technique:

  • Description of the procedure and its applications.

  • Characteristics that make the procedure innovative or unique.

Bibliographic presentation:

  • Clear and concrete subject.

  • Description.

  • Bibliography.

DEADLINES

Abstracts for Open Presentations must be submitted before the deadline on July, 25 2022.

Notification of acceptance or rejection of Open Presentations will be sent on July, 29 2022. The resolution may be any one of the following:

1. Rejection of the Presentation.

2. Rejection as a Open Presentation, but with the suggestion to present it as a Poster (see the section "Poster presentation").

3. Acceptance of the Presentation.

4. Acceptance of the Open Presentation with the condition of corrections of errors detected by the Scientific Committee.

The presentors of accepted Open Presentations, and those with suggested corrections, will have until September 25, 2022 to send the final presentation. Failure to do so before September 25, will cause rejection of the presentation.

Because of translation and organization reasons, modifications of the presentation cannot be made after submission.

Abstracts and presentations submitted after the deadline will not be accepted. 

Poster Presentations

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Posters will be displayed in a visible place at the Congress venue.

  • They must measure 120cm high by 80cm wide. Posters that do notmeet these specifications cannot be displayed.

  • Presentors should submit their printed poster to the Congress. SIODEC will provide the necessary supports for it’s exhibition. The presentorsmust bring the poster on the first day of the Congress for installation.

  • The main author is responsible for the content. Any change in thefinal versión of the poster from what was submitted for acceptanceand approved by the Scientific Committee may result in the non-exhibitionof the poster.

  • The author may distribute versions of his poster in DIN A4 size or similar to congress attendees who visit the poster area of the Congress,

  • Important: the abstracts should be sentsend through the website accordingly. In order to maintain anonymity, summaries received at other email addresses or other means of communication will not be accepted.

DEADLINES

Abstracts for Posters must be submitted through the web before the deadline on July, 25 2022. 

On July, 29th presenters will notified if it is suggested that they convert their oral presentation into a poster presentation. For these individuals July, 29th is set as the deadline for the poster submission. After this, the normal deadlines for the poster presentation will apply.

And, on July  29th, final notification will be made regarding the acceptance or rejection of the poster.

The resolutions may be any one of the following:

1. Rejection of the Poster.

2. Acceptance of the Poster.

3. Acceptance of the Posters with the condition of corrections of errors detected by the Scientific Committee.

The presentors of accepted Posters, and those with suggested corrections, will have until September, 25th, 2022 to send the final Poster presentation. Failure to do so before Septiember 25, will cause rejection of the Poster.

Because of translation and organization reasons, modifications of the presentation cannot be made after submission.

Abstracts and Posters submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.

Selecction Process

  • The criteria used when evaluating and selecting proposals will take intoaccount the following qualities:

    • 1. Scientific and clinical quality and value. 

    • 2. Interest to the Congress attendees. 

    • 3.Type of subject.

  • The selection process has been designed in order to be rigorous andneutral.

  • Initially, three evaluators will read, rate, and make comments and suggestionson each abstract; guaranteeing a triple expert opinion on each of the proposals.

  • After the first phase, each proposal will have been evaluated quantitativelyand qualitatively up to a maximum of 3 times.

  • With this information, the Scientific Committee will make a fourth andfinal screening based on its own criteria and that of the three previouse evaluators.

  • With this system a quadruple review of each summary is guaranteed.
    It is of great importance to point out that the whole process is Anonymous.Neither the evaluators nor the members of the Scientific Committeehave access to information about the authors and presentors
